About Lisa Boesen – Certified Plant-based Chef

Lisa Boesen, MA, Certified Veg Chef, and Owner, The Silver Sprout

Let’s Make This Delicious!
The silver Sprout

Lisa is a Fort Collins, Colorado–based professional speaker, award‑winning author, and plant‑forward chef who believes vegetables are far more fun than anyone gives them credit for. She’s been writing since she was twelve, cooking for more than thirty years, and learning—always learning—because curiosity is her favorite kitchen tool. Her culinary adventures include pasta‑making classes in Italy, the intensive Forks Over Knives plant‑based course, and certification as a Vegan Chef through the Vegan Gastronomy Culinary Academy. In 2024, she was honored to be named a finalist speaker for the Vegan Women Summit in Hollywood, California.

Before stepping fully into the world of food and storytelling, Lisa spent over forty years in healthcare—yes, forty, and she’s proud of every minute. That long stretch of science, systems, and human behavior shaped her belief that what we eat should be joyful and grounded in what we know helps people thrive. She holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management, Certified Vegan and  Plant‑Based Chef. Her corporate background spans acute care, disease prevention and management, Human Resources, and Performance Improvement.

Today, Lisa blends evidence‑based wellness with a playful, age‑positive philosophy that says it’s never too late to feel better, cook better, or surprise yourself in the kitchen. Her workshops and keynotes are equal parts inspiration and “you’ve got this.” She weaves in stories of beekeeping, gentle humor about transitioning to a plant‑based lifestyle, and practical tips for people who want to eat with more joy and less overwhelm. Her plants‑first tastings—little bites of “recipe sorcery” with a few travel tales sprinkled in—help people rediscover their inner Kitchen Creator. And when someone emails to say they cooked their first plant‑based meal, she lights up every time. That’s the heart of her work: making delicious feel doable.

As an author, Lisa brings wit, warmth, and Colorado character to her work. Her 2021 cookbook, Food ELEVATED, earned a Gold Medal from the Colorado Independent Book Publishers Association in 2022. She continues to write cookbooks and creates digital downloads, YouTube content, and online classes that inspire simple, vibrant, plant‑forward cooking.

These days, her work blooms through The Silver Sprout—a warm, witty invitation to cook a little brighter, live a little lighter, and savor the deliciousness of this season of life.

You don’t have to be vegan to hang out with Lisa. You just have to be curious—and maybe a little hungry. Her philosophy is simple: cook with joy, eat with intention, and let flavor lead the way. And when the moment calls for it, she’ll grin and say, “Let’s make this delicious together, shall we?”
